The Best PM-CEM On The Market…

The P5: A Versatile PM-CEM

The P5 is a sensitive and reliable CEM for measuring particulates in a flowing gas in stacks and ducts. It provides the user with CONTINUOUS, IN-SITU measurements of mass concentration and is very useful for the following applications

Þ process optimization e.g. checking and diagnosing boiler firing to maximize fuel utilization and minimize particulate emissions

Þ compliance monitoring to meet an emission permit e.g. to provide a continuous readout in the control room to enable the operators to keep the process in compliance at all times.

Þ air pollution control: the P5 provides a 4 - 20 MA output to an APC device for automatic emission control e.g. the P5 output steers the precipitator's fields to maintain compliance.

Product Detail

Þ The P5 was developed by Environmental Systems Corporation in the late 1970's.

Þ Uses the principle of light back scattering and is a single ended unit i.e. there are no mirrors or alignment requirements

Þ Measures particulate mass concentration in mg/actual cubic meter.

Þ Using stack test data a linear coefficient can be developed that converts mass concentration in actual units to dry standard units as used in permits.

Þ Provides a linear response to particles in the size range 0.1 to 5 microns

Þ The P5 has been tested and verified to duplicate EPA Method 5 within the tolerances specified in ISO 10155 and EPA preliminary monitor spec PS-11

Þ Has a measurement range of 1 to 20,000 mg/actual cubic meter

Þ Available with standard probe lengths of 18", 36" and 60". Custom lengths are also available.

Þ It is a rugged, modular design with easy access to all its working parts

Þ The sensor probe is air cooled using a built-in blower with 2 stage filter

Þ Installs on the side of the stack or duct by means of a 4" ANSI 150# flange

Þ Requires minimal maintenance: only periodic replacement of the air filter

Þ Large installed user base, many with multiple units

Þ 2 models available:

Þ P5A has analog electronics and manual calibration

Þ P5B has digital electronics with automatic features such as calibration and fail-safe, etc

Þ The P5A gives the same accuracy as the P5B but is a less expensive version
