The P5 is a sensitive and reliable CEM for
measuring particulates in a flowing gas in stacks and ducts.
It provides the user with CONTINUOUS, IN-SITU measurements
of mass concentration and is very useful for the following
applications
-
the P5 was developed
by Environmental Systems Corporation in the late 1970's.
-
it uses the
principle of light back scattering and is a single ended
unit i.e. there are no mirrors or alignment requirements
-
it measures
particulate mass concentration in mg/actual cubic metre.
-
by using stack
test data a linear coefficient can be developed that
converts mass concentration in actual units to dry standard
units as used in permits.
-
it provides
a linear response to particles in the size range 0.1
to 5 microns
-
the P5 has been
tested and verified to duplicate EPA Method 5 within
the tolerances specified in ISO 10155 and EPA preliminary
monitor spec PS-11
-
it has a measurement
range of 1 to 20,000 mg/actual cubic metre
-
it is available
with standard probe lengths of 18", 36" and
60". Custom lengths are also available.
-
it is a rugged,
modular design with easy access to all its working parts
-
the sensor probe
is air cooled using a built-in blower with 2 stage filter
-
installs on
the side of the stack or duct by means of a 4"
ANSI 150# flange
-
it requires
minimal maintenance: only periodic replacement of the
air filter
-
there is a large
installed user base, many with multiple units
-
2 models available:
-
P5A has analog
electronics and manual calibration
-
P5B has digital
electronics with automatic features such as calibration
and fail-safe, etc
-
the P5A gives
the same accuracy as the P5B but is a less expensive
version
